On February 7th 2020, ZA326 accepted AC ground power for the first time in over a decade.
The team had previously attempted to apply ground power at Bruntingthorpe, without success. Following the move to St Athan, a number of components were checked and replaced where necessary. A known-good ground power unit was very kindly delivered by Roy Millington (who owns and runs Harrier GR3 XV808) and connected to ZA326.
SUCCESS!
The aircraft burst into life – fans blasting, instruments glowing, wingtip lights bright. There’s plenty of work still to do, but this was a massive hurdle to overcome.
