HOLD A PIECE OF HISTORY IN YOUR HAND

13th December 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Tornado ZA326’s final flight.

To celebrate this milestone, the Panavia Tornado Preservation Group have used original airframe metal from ZA326 to create a limited edition run of 500 coins.

Featuring a unique design which includes the dates of ZA326’s first and last flights, each coin comes with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity, and is delivered in a protective plastic pouch.

Coins are available to buy from the Panavia Tornado Preservation Group eBay Store, and cost £25 including UK P&P.

All money raised from the sales of these coins goes directly to the continuing restoration of ZA326, the world’s only Tornado GR.1P, which is on public display at the South Wales Aviation Museum.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Are the coins really made from aircraft metal from Tornado ZA326?

A: Yes!  The nib was removed whilst ZA326 was in service, and still bears the unique “Raspberry Ripple” paint scheme.  We have carefully documented the entire process, from dismantling the nib, melting down the metal, embossing the coin blanks and photographing the finished coins alongside the aircraft.

Q: Why are there only 500 coins?

A: We could only salvage a finite amount of metal from the nib, and wanted to ensure that all coins were made from 100% ZA326 original airframe material

Q: What are the dimensions/weight of each coin?

A: Each coin is 40mm in diameter, 3mm thick and weighs 9.3 grams – surprisingly light as they are cast from 100% aircraft aluminium.
